I tried to practice as many different shapes as possible in this simple quilling project. I have come to love this art. I will be working on it more in future.

wow! the butterflies are amazing! what is quilling and what are you doing it with? You are so talented shilpa, am in awe of you. So much patience and hardwork.

Shilpa: Thanks Sree :) . Quilling is an art done by very thin strips of paper. It is very simple, but requires a little patience :) . You can read more about it at quilling corner. I was introduced to it by easycrfts blog. Next on my to-do list is embossing :) .

Hey Shilpa, Love all your posts here. The oil painting is really awesome and so are all the crochet works. What is quilling though, looks very nice. Is there a special tool you need for this ??

Shilpa: Maya, thanks. Just check out my reply to Sree. I will try to make a post about the tools used. Its very easy craft.

    Shilpa,
Congratulations on starting Art Campus. Making it public was a great idea. I remember doing this art in school – never knew it was called Quilling. I think we called it Paper filigree.

    You are really talented.

Shilpa: Thanks Mamatha. Thanks for mentioning other name for quilling. I didn’t know about it.

    hi shipa,
everything is lovely….inspiring…i do a lot of handwork (especially crochet)too..now bit difficult due to my 10 month old baby…but i am also planning to post them in a blog as a record…your work is tempting and i too want to do them…Can paper quilling be done without any expert training? i have heard about the kits available along with the tools…can i just buy them and start?

Shilpa: Sowmya, I have not seen quilling startup kits. But this is very simple and you can start without any help. I will do a post about the tools required soon.

    Hi Shilpa..
Thank you for showing us your creations. I loved the paper quilling work – everything is so well done.. the border, bird .. The crocheted bag is also very nice. I also loved the lace on the cami :)
I learnt crochet from the net, long back. I have made a cellphone pouch ( from the rs.5 wool we get here in bangalore.. its my first crocheted peice – not very nice but I love it..:) ) After seeing your creations I also want to start doing some crocehting work time to time..
Can you tell me where I can get some good yarn for crocheting in Bangalore? I think the yarn you used for the bag is not wool.. is it something else? Please let me know..
    Asha

Shilpa: Asha, I bought the yarn from Jayanagar 7th block (just near the vegetable market there are many craft stores). You are right, the bag is made of crochet thread. I don’t know what it is called, I just knew how it looked like. So I picked it up.Its a thick thread.

    Hi Shilpa,

Just came across this site when i was checking on something. Quilling caught my eye and your work is beautiful. I was also inspired by this art when i saw books in the library and started working on it.I have a few pieces to my name now. It is something everyone really appreciates, because of the beauty and intricacy of the work. Keep up your good work. Would love to see more of these from you, when you have time. Bye bye.
