Open sided cami

This is a crocheted open sided cami with laces on the sides. Took me 5 days to finish. Though the instructions said complexity as “intermediate”, it was very simple to make. The main stitches used in this are dc(double crochet) and sc(single crochet).

Many of you asked me for the instructions. So I scanned the page where I found this. Please click here for the instructions.

Am highly impressed by all your work here. Is this Cami crocheted as one whole piece or needs to be done separate and then join the pieces ??

Shilpa: This was made in two pieces – one front and one back piece. Then they are joined at the sides with lace.

Shilpa, have you done this only by seeing instructions in a book?? Have you not attended any classes? Long back i had learnt some embroidery which i almost forgot, but I am getting the interest back seeing this. I rwaly liked this a lot. And all your other artwork are very good.

Shilpa: Yes Pinky, I have not taken any crocheting classes yet. In this cami also, I mis-interpreted one stitch. But the final product came out good :D , because I didn’t miss the number of stitches here. I feel crocheting is very simple, just need to understand 4 basic stitches properly. Thats all. I think you should restart your embroidery, its a lot of fun to see the final products. All the best

Ya its realy fun, but what I learnt was just the basics and now dont remember anything :-D . Still hope to try it. Where in Bangalore had you bought your art materials from. I live in Bangalore, so I was just wondering.

Shilpa: Jayanagar 7th block(I hope the number is correct) has many craft stores adjacent to the fresh vegetable shops. I roamed around there for quite a long time to find out what interests me. I remember there was this shop with bangles, toys etc which also has each and every type of craft material. Its a tiny shop. Its been two years now, so I don’t remember exactly where it was.

I think you are such a talented lady! I have been crocheting for many years — my grandmother taught me when I was only 8 years old. I have always loved fibers and making stuff I can use. I learned to knit about 3 years ago and have enjoyed making socks and bags and little things. I really like this cami, nice job! Keep up the great work!

Shilpa: So nice to see you here Cindy. Yeah I remember you mentioning that you do knitting/crocheting. Would love to see your creations sometime. Thanks for kind words :D .

    Hi Shilpa

I have been doing a little bit of crocheting ( self taught ) but the sad part is I havent been able to finish them :( I really loved your crocheted cami. Is there any way I can get the pattern from you. I havent tried anything of this sort. I have crocheted baby blankets, afghans booties, baby hats ( all are 3/4th done except for one set of baby booties and baby blankets ) I would really appreciate it if you could post / mail me the pattern.

    Regards
    Suma
